It is not very often that I get some "down" time. Yesterday, I was able to snag a few minutes and I picked up a book I hadn't read in a while. In this book is the true story of how one man had a vision, gave up in frustration, and learned a very valuable lesson.
I wanted to share it with you today to hopefully encourage you a little bit as we work our way through this online journey together.
The short version is this:
During one of the famed Gold Rush times, this man left home to find his fortune.
While working his claim, he found a pocket of ore and returned home to borrow money from friends and family. He returned to his claim, purchased heavy equipment, and started drilling.
The first haul was very rich in gold and he knew that after just a few more loads like this, he would be able to pay back his friends and family and start showing some profits.
Then something happened.
The gold ran out.
He kept drilling but was coming up empty. Just short of being able to make his fortune, he declared the mine a "bust".
Frustrated, and very upset, he sold the equipment to a junk man for several hundred dollars and went home to sulk and declare that the Gold Rush was just a big waste of his time and money.
Meanwhile... back at the mine...
The junk man went out to the mine and asked a geologist to give him an opinion. The geololgist did some research and said, "This poor guy just didn't understand fault lines. Our calculations show that you will hit gold just three feet from where this man stopped drilling.".
So the junk man drilled.
The junk man pulled millions of dollars in gold from the mine just three feet from where this man had given up. Many times, we ourselves are just three feet from gold when we feel defeated because of one thing or another and we just want to give up. It happens to all of us... believe me.
I don't know your situation. I don't know if you are three feet from gold or 15 feet. I do know that if you commit to following the system and you keep "drilling" you can find success with this system.
The story above is 100% true. The man that gave up was R. U. Darby. The lesson he learned from this experience is that he would never give up again because someone says no or because he has a set back.
R. U. Darby later became one of a small group of insurance salesmen that sell over 1 million dollars in insurance annually.
I've said it a thousand times and I'll probably say it a million times more but I truly believe that the only way to not succeed with this system is to simply not work the system and quit.
And I see people do it every day. They stop just a few feet from their goal. A few more ads... A few more follow ups. A little more reading to grasp a particular tool or concept that will put them over the top.
When you realize that for less than the cost of a cup of coffee each day, you have access to a powerful system of tools and resources like these, the rewards are pretty exciting!
But not everybody has hit their gold vein yet. I do understand that. Some people may see the Top 20 list or hear about someone else's success and actually feel discouraged rather than encouraged.
If there is something you don't quite understand, do what the junk man did. He consulted a professional and found out what he needed to do to strike his fortune.
